Milford Charter Amendment

In 2017, armed with overwhelming evidence, Milford resident Rachel Richardson sued the City of Milford, Ohio, for violations of Ohio’s Open Meetings Act and the city charter. Less than a year after the city asked to settle that case, city council violated the same laws once again. Richardson sued the city a second time, in 2019, and the city admitted in a settlement in that case to violating the Open Meetings Act and the city charter.

Now, instead of following state law and the city charter, Milford council simply wants to amend the city’s charter to make legal the kinds of secret meetings and lack of government transparency that council admitted to doing illegally. Milford residents deserve better. Vote no on the Proposed Charter Amendment on the Nov. 2, 2021, ballot and tell Milford City Council: No secret meetings! Follow the law!
